Firefly was formed in the spring of 2002 with the hopes of writing great songs and making a unique contribution to the Canadian music scene. Although, their sound is not easily defined, the influence of roots-rock, alternative, pop, and alt.country is evident in their approach to song writing. Not willing to be defined by industry genres, Firefly’s only concern is writing songs that are honest and enduring. The band’s goal is to continue to hone their craft and play live to share their vision and joy of music with others. Their first release, an eponymous six-song EP wove lover’s remorse, social decay and the wonderment of Northern Ontario together in 18 minutes. Made Me Glad, Firefly’s first full release, was recorded and mixed by Scott Merritt at The Cottage in Guelph, Ontario. Truly a labour of love, the CD showcases their eclectic approach to songwriting, guitar styles, and vocals. Neil Little, Jeff Appel, Nick Bailey and Larry Guzik are Firefly. The band plays throughout Ontario, as well as portions of the U.S., determined to make their live show the catalyst that leads people to their records. Until you have a chance to catch a show, put on Made Me Glad and feel the love.
